Requirements:
- Cost-effective production of drill sleeves in various sizes
- Flexible feeding of both small and larger workpieces
- Ability to integrate additional feeding equipment (e.g., a vibrating feeder)
- Automated loading and unloading of the machine
- Ejection of non-conforming parts
- SPC parts for quality control
- Space-saving automation solution with direct machine integration
- Process-integrated cleaning of finished parts
Considerations:
- Combination of a drawer system and a conveyor belt for maximum flexibility in parts feeding
- Transfer of workpieces using a robot without a loading hatch to reduce loading and unloading times.
- Integrated blow-off station
- Discharge of NIO parts
- SPC discharge for regular quality inspections
- Use of a SPINNER Microturn with permanently mounted linear tools
- Integrated measuring probe for in-process quality control
Solution:
With this automation solution, drill sleeves—ranging from small to large—are manufactured fully automatically on a SPINNER Microturn. Depending on the part size, feeding is handled either via the ROBOBOX’s standard drawers or via an additional conveyor belt. Additional feeding equipment, such as a vibrating feeder, can be easily integrated with the conveyor belt.
Inside the ROBOBOX, the robot picks up the workpieces and feeds them directly through a keyhole into the machine’s spindle. This eliminates the need for a loading door, thereby reducing loading and unloading times.
After machining, the robot removes the finished parts. These are then blown clean immediately. Good parts are placed in the designated tray, while defective components are automatically collected in a separate NIO box. Additionally, SPC parts can be removed for regular quality checks.
Machining takes place on a SPINNER Microturn equipped with permanently installed linear tools. An integrated measuring probe measures the workpieces directly during the machining process, ensuring that the required quality is continuously monitored.
The result is a space-saving and high-performance automation cell that can flexibly produce workpieces of various sizes, reduces operational effort, and ensures consistently high production quality.
