Requirements:

1. Automated production of milled parts from the smallest batch sizes

2. Working with the robot without prior knowledge

3. Milling machine with 5 axes

4. Flexible solution for sawn parts, flame-cut parts, moulded parts, components on pallets

5. Complete machining of components, including rear side machining

 

Considerations:

It became clear early on that the ROBOBOXtreme, with its great flexibility for the customer, was the right solution in combination with the U5-630.

 

Solution:

The SPINNER U5-630 is used. Thanks to the utilisation of the 3+2 axes, the components can be completely manufactured in 2 clamping operations.

The machine is loaded via the ROBOBOXtreme. With 8 clamping points and thanks to the flexibility of the clamping devices, the wide range of components can be manufactured without retooling. The turning station transfers the components fully automatically to the second clamping position, enabling the rear side to be machined.

Based on our templates for the Robobox inserts, the customer has already manufactured inserts for special contour parts for commissioning, in which the components can be held in position.

For the first time, the ROBOBOXtreme was equipped with pallet handling capabilities as part of this project. This allows components that cannot be clamped with ‘normal’ clamping devices to be fixed to pallets, which are then also loaded into the machine by the robot.
